Romanov sheep originates from Russia, the Romanov royal family bred this breed of sheep to provide a sufficient amount of food for the army. Russia has long defended the export of this breed and treated it as a national treasure, and only at the beginning of 1960 did it allow exports to Canada and the Czech Republic. Over a period of 30 years, the Czech breeders built a Czech line of Romanov sheep - they selected the offspring of mothers who regularly lamb a larger number of lambs, in rams they chose those with the highest growth rate, etc. At the beginning of 2016, the breeding flock of Romanov sheep was imported from the most famous farm in Eastern Europe - Ram's Paradise Ranch, owned by Mrs. Michaela Kvisova. The pedigree of sheep and rams testify to the excellence of genetics as well as the purity of the bloodline; in order to maintain the quality of blood lines, the mating process is strictly planned. There are currently five bloodlines on the farm:
· Ruslan · Romi · Rebel · Ramon and · Rekrut · Roland · Rosen · Relik
We have purposely developed a software that allows tracking of mating between individual animals, which allows the maintenance of clean bloodlines and high-quality genetic material. Basic characteristics of ROMANOV SHEEP: · Very early reproductive maturation, the possibility of mating after 5-6 months; · Ability to lamb twice a year; · High fertility rate: 200 - 300%; · Extremely high quality, soft, juicy and tasty meat; · High meat yield rate: with good nutrition conditions about 60%; · Very resistant to various diseases.
Depending on the needs of the animals, the nutrient ratios are adjusted, but in each case 8 different types of cereals and hay from ecologically clean mountain pastures are served. The composition of the diet is designed by a team of experts in the field of veterinary medicine and food technology.
Employees apply the highest standards and good practices to ensure the top quality of the final product. The feeding process is targeted according to the needs of the animals depending on the season and age of the individual animals – pregnant ewes or sheep raising lambs.
The health of our animals is taken care of by a team of veterinarians, consisting of veterinarians from two regional veterinary clinics as well as a team from the Scientific Veterinary Institute Novi Sad. The experts are engaged as advisors for the selection of cattle, planning the mating process, monitoring the course of pregnancy and general manipulation of animals on the farm.
Cooperation between professional staff enables the exchange of experiences and the transfer of good practices, which is certainly an added value of our business. Professional support and consistent follow-up of instructions are an indispensable part of the farm's work and development process.
In conditions of difficult farming, limited food resources and labour, the Romanov sheep imposes itself as a superior breed and unsurpassed in terms of fur quality, high fertility, poly-esterity and high yield of quality and tasty meat per ewe. These sheep are adapted to the cold continental climate and local diet. They are ideal for correcting fertility within domestic herds by purchasing rams or to start profitable production by purchasing a proven, healthy, pedigree breeding herd. Mr Radoslav Matić from Šid, Republic of Srbija, is our longterm friend and partner. At an early stage he has recognized the value of the genetics of the romanov sheep.
